Monument Valley Park, Colorado Springs

We like to ride our bikes in Monument Valley Park in the morning before Mike goes to work. He likes to shoot hoops while I read magazines.

The other day the weather didn’t know if it wanted to be hot and sunny or raining. At one point, it was both. So we just hung out on the front porch.

4th of July in Laguna Beach

I spent the 4th of July weekend at my parents’ beach house in Laguna with the ‘rents and two of my brothers. It was fun!

Manitou Lake and Deckers

We recently took a little spur of the moment drive up to Manitou Lake.

It only took about 40 minutes to get there and the drive was very scenic.

Here’s another link.

It was $5 to park but there are restrooms and the place is well maintained.

We just laid on a blanket and read awhile. It was pretty relaxing.

Anyone know of any other nearby lakes to Colorado Springs?

After that we drove a little ways up the road to the Deckers area. We’ve been there before, of course, but like all fishermen, Mike is on an eternal quest for the perfect fishing spot. Here’s where we went last time.

We’re going camping in Deckers in a couple weeks so I’ll keep you posted on the fishing story.

Nosh and La’au’s, Colorado Springs

We went to Nosh again for happy hour last week. Of course it was fab. I had a glass of malbec and Mike had some Jim Beam and a beer. We both had cheeseburgers and shared some sweet potato fries. Delish!

Check out this hair. Sheesh, I spent like an hour washing it, blow drying it, and curling it. Then we went outside and it poured down rain. Bah. This is why it is very rare for me to actually do much of anything to  my hair.

Then another day we went to La’au’s. It’s a taco stand. But they have a Hawaiian name. I don’t know what Hawaiian food is all about  but I don’t think it’s like this.  It was good tho!

I had the huli salad with roasted corn. Their menu is kind of confusing so I just asked the server what I should have. It was good! It had napa cabbage, green papaya (which sounds strange but is actually really refreshing and crunchy), and  tons of other grilled veggies in it.  I had so much left over that it took me three days to finish it!

Mike had a burrito, which I don’t see on the online menu.

They also have chips and salsa, guacamole, little tacos, beer, and margaritas. Plus happy hour! Well have to go there for that some day.
