When I said I loathed McDonald's, I was referring to its food. If a restaurant has a great atmosphere but mediocre food, I won't return. If a restaurant has great food but a mediocre atmosphere, I might.

High-fructose corn syrup and white sugar are almost identical chemically; each is about half fructose and half glucose. I'm curious -- do you know any "family farmers" personally? My in-laws own a family farm, and its main crop is food-grade corn.

I am not a franchisee, just a fan of the food. I discovered Rudy's when I lived in Albuquerque and had been hoping for a Colorado Springs location since I moved here.

As this is your blog, I'm sure you'll be certain to have the last word, so here's my final thought: Blogs are meant to stimulate discussion. Congratulations on writing a post that has done so. The world would be a boring place if everyone agreed about everything.

Because it's walking distance. Trust me: If Tony's weren't literally like right next door, I'd never visit at all. And they're always open in bad, snowy weather. It'd be a great bar if it weren't for the workers.

Ummm.... if it's the WORST bar as you stated, why do you keep returning? I like the place, it is what it is. I just cant understand why you would label an establishment as "The Worst Bar in Colorado Springs" and continue to go there? Sounds a little strange to me. Bypolar much?

I love McDonald's. Iconic Americana. As the original American road-trip food, I have a great respect for the Golden Arches. And as the leader in fast food -- you could even say they created the genre -- they effect change more rapidly than others (first to get rid of styrofoam; first to put nutrition info on products; first to offer healthier items; etc.).

At any rate, my trouble with Rudy's isn't so much the food -- like I said in the review: It's OK. Tastes do differ, so what gets my BBQ motor running might stall yours out. No big deal. I just thought the atmosphere seemed a little contrived. A little too faux-informal. And the HFCS.

But as you can see from the thread, people are passionate about their barbecue, and Rudy's has a pretty big following. I just suspect it was a lot better before it was a chain.

Yes, the quality is outstanding. That's a fact. And it's a good test of the maxim that people will pay for quality. Seems like business is good, so I guess it's true. You get points, too, for being open when many other downtown businesses aren't.
