I spent a few days in L.A. last month. Spent some time with the family, went to a couple of restaurants.
We had lunch at Recess in Glendale. It’s right down the street from my brother’s house and he goes there all the time so I wanted to try it.

I started with some nice hot green tea.

Then I had the Scott Road chicken panini that was really good. It came with a fancy pesto aioli (aka mayonnaise).

They have other fun stuff like a nutella and banana sandwich! Check out their menu, it’s has lots of yummy things.
My brother had some risotto, which was a special that day. See that blue door in the background? That’s what made me want to paint my kitchen blue. I love the vibe in this place!

My dad had another special, the lasagne.

Mom had soup and salad but for some reason I don’t have a picture of it.
Of course we had to have dessert.
Red velvet cupcake!

The next day we hit up the happy hour at Amici Trattoria at The Americana At Brand to celebrate my brother’s birthday.
They have really good food and fun drinks there and the happy hour prices are great.

We had wine, beer, and cocktails. This is a watermelon drink. It was yummy.

And some tasty appetizers: caprese salad, pizza margherita, and baby meatballs. It was all super delish!

Anyhow, be sure to check out Recess for breakfast or lunch and Amici Trattoria for Happy Hour! Both are in Glendale, CA. Let me know what you think!
