Last summer I took a ceramics class at the Bemis Art School at the FAC and it was a lot of fun. I knew they had a bar and a restaurant there, but they always seemed to be changing who was running it. They also had weird, flaky hours. So we never went, even tho it’s only two blocks from our house.
But recently I got an email from their mailing list about their restaurant, Amuze and their bar The Deco Lounge. They have better hours now, so we went up there awhile ago. They were having a special event in the restaurant, so we just had a couple of drinks in the lounge: A wine, a beer and an interesting whiskey from a Centennial, Colorado, distiller.

It’s a really neat-looking building, very “art deco.” The museum was built in the 1930s, but I’m not sure if the restaurant and bar are part of the original building. If they’re not, they look like they are.

Since it’s an art museum, they also have art in the Deco Lounge.

It was a very nice place, light and airy and relaxed. We’ll for sure go again. Maybe we’ll dress a little nicer next time. Not that we’d have to, but it’s a nice-ish place. It seemed like everyone else in the lounge and at the event were coming from work and were in work attire, just FYI. We’d also like to check out the restaurant.
