Todd Snider’s playing in Boulder on Saturday

Somehow, I missed out on Todd Snider for most of my adult life. When finally I was turned on to him (Thanks, Sandy!), the rest of my dumb life seemed empty. How had I not been a fan earlier? I don’t know, but you can’t dwell in the past and brood on mistakes that can’t be undone.

We saw him live Boulder last year, and it was probably the best live show I’ve ever seen. I dunno. Iron Maiden when I was 15 made a lasting impression. But seriously, if you can get time Saturday, it’s worth it to get to Boulder for this show. Tickets are only $20.

Of course I can’t make it to the show because I’m working that night. If I used emoticons, I’d put a frowny-face one right here.

If you can’t make it to Boulder, check out the tour schedule and see him somewhere else. You’ll be glad you did. I promise.

Here’s a couple of good stories:

The Mitguards are playing on Saturday at Rico’s

We enjoy the music of The Mitguards a great deal, and they’re playing Saturday night at Poor Richard’s. If you’re downtown, it’s worthwhile to stop in for a listen. The show is free and starts at 7:30 p.m.

From their website: “The Mitguards bring a unique and non-traditional perspective to folk music, combining sharp, insightful lyrics with haunting melodies and flawless harmonies. Roots-based Americana takes on a new, Southwestern air in the talented hands and voices of Deb and Chris Mitguard.”

Also, if you’re downtown, the new 7-Eleven opened today at Pikes Peak and Tejon! You probably need a beverage or a magazine.

Paul enjoyed an Anchor Steam beer at Rico's. Mom had a pinot grigio, and I was adventurous and tried the Bourbon Barrel Stout. I will probably have to try it again.

The Peppermint Patty at Rico's.

We haven't come close to trying all of the food and drink at Rico's. We're on our way, though. This is the Peppermint Patty (hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps) and a shot of Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey.

Dessert at Rico's, Colorado Springs

You'll want to save room for dessert. We shared the chocolate sundae. Jealous?
